HOPE worldwide UK is a Christian faith based charity with the dual mission of:

1. Overcoming poverty in the UK and overseas.
2. Mobilizing volunteers in pursuit of this effort.

We aim to achieve these objectives by developing innovative non-sectarian programmes that involve volunteers to deliver high quality solutions to poverty.

Founded in 1991 by the International Churches of Christ, our main work in the UK helps homeless people and recovering addicts. Volunteers are involved in most aspects of service delivery and work together with our expert staff. We also mobilize volunteers to work within their local communities supporting local needs.

The Edinburgh Church cooperates with the Bethany Care Van by staffing it with church volunteers one Monday per month.  Please contact us if you'd like to participate.

In addition, HOPE worldwide UK is an affiliate of the global HOPE worldwide network based in Philadelphia, USA, and supports the work of overseas development organisations, mostly other HOPE worldwide affiliates, to overcome poverty in Africa, Asia and Europe.

The Edinburgh Church also sponsors a school in the Indian city of Bhuj. HOPE worldwide responded to an earthquake in Bhuj in 2001 by building a school that would withstand future earthquakes.  We give bi-monthly ongoing support toward the continuing need.
